Something I've been thinking about a lot lately on the topic of Christian Dating, is...are we called to marry ANY guy, AS LONG as he's a Christian. I've heard this question come up multiple times phrased something like, "He's a Christian, God must want me to date him, right?" or "Is it wrong to not like a guy back, if he's a Christian too?"
I believe the answer to this question is....Drum rollll please....NO! There is SOOO much more to finding the right guy besides the fact that he is Christian. Say he's Christian, he's sweet, he's caring, and he REALLY does Love God. Well what are his future aspirations? Can you see his goals and future plans aligning with yours, in a way where you can glorify God more together then you can apart? I'm not saying EVERYTHING has to line up perfectly, but I am saying that this is an important thing to consider.
I believe it is such a BEAUTIFUL thing when you see this type of harmony in a relationship. Where both people are equally running towards God, and they can support and push each other towards the plans God has for them separately, and together. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
For example, I love God, and so does by boyfriend. Something special that we share in common is our love for entrepreneurship, innovation, and business. It was important for me to find someone who had that same desire for starting their own business, and who thought big, so that we could come along side each other in our endeavors. Don't get me wrong, we are very different people, I love fashion, and he loves traveling the world, but in the end we both want to run towards God in a way that excites the other.
There are so many amazing combinations of people that God brings together, and truthfully it's nearly impossible to predict beforehand what yours will look like. This is one reason why it typically helps to wait till your a little older to start dating, that way you can have a better idea of what you are designed to do. But just know that God has designed you personally and intricately for a reason, just like he's designed the person he has in store for you! Psalm 139:14 "I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."
