If celebrities have everything the world says you need to be happy…unlimited money, A-list fame, sex, luxury items, etc. then why is it that many (more then we know) resort to drugs. Why the would you EVER want to leave your life and escape somewhere else for even a moment? It's because ALL of those things mentioned will not make you happier.
Wait Joelle, so your saying that if I had twice as much money as I do now, was twice as pretty, and had twice as many Instagram followers I wouldn't have any more joy then I do right now? Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.
It's a trap that I fall into literally each and every single day, that I will be better off if I have more money, or more blog viewers. The sad thing is no matter how much of something you have you will always want more.
In order to have true and lasting joy you must put your trust, hope, and heart in Jesus's hands!
Psalm 23:1 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
This means that when we put God first, and aim to honor him and not try to live up to the expectation of those around us, we will be completely satisfied. This may sound a little crazy, but it's a reality, and I admit, very rarely that I feel that satisfaction because it's so easy to get distracted and live to please everyone besides God. I can in full confidence say that the times I've been the most joyful are when I am putting God in first place.
If you have never experienced that before and you're not sure how God and happiness are connected besides the things God does for you, then your with the majority of Christians. Maybe for the first time tonight you can open your bible by yourself, or spend extra time praying for God's joy in your life. Whatever it is, if you draw close to God, he will provide you with a special peace that is not shaken or moved by obstacles and situations. He will give you joy regardless of what each day brings
