Taking God Shopping

Hi Everyone, I'm Joelle!  I love Jesus, and I really enjoy fashion so I decided I would create a blog where I could talk about both! I'm not a writer at all...I'm the opposite, a computer science major...but I love talking about God, and I love looking deeper at the Bible and how these mysterious passages written so long ago directly relate to our lives now.

I wanted to start off with the verse that is at the top of this page, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31 This is one of those verses that you read quickly and say “how niceee!” But if you think about it a little deeper i t’s saying…whether you’re at school, work, talking to friends, shopping, traveling, eating, working out, playing a sport, etc. there IS a way to bring God into all those activities and put him at the center.  Society tells us that Jesus is just for Sunday’s…what does 1 Thessalonians 5:17 say, “Pray Continually.”  What is prayer really? It’s being in communication and communion with God. We do this by drawing closer to him, and bringing him more and more to the center of our lives, and into MORE PARTS of our lives.

For Example, how can I glorify God while I’m shopping? Before you go shopping you can pray that God helps give you discernment to pick out cute/ fashionable clothes that are more modest, AND not only that but that he gives you a desire to like those kind of cloths.  If you’re with your friends you can pray that God gets brought up at some point during your time together (maybe make a stop in forever 21 and try on a bible verse shirt ;). On your way to go shopping you can turn down the radio and pray, or put on some Christian music.  This is just one example of how to glorify God outside of church.  I’d love you girls to share any more examples you have!
