The world has defined "pretty" in very explicit terms. Someone with amazing hair, a perfect body, fashionable, and born with flawless skin. When someone says "she's pretty," our attention is brought immediately to her outer appearance, where we then proceed to determine whether we agree or disagree based on a recent encounter, or Facebook Profile Picture. Our strong desire and obsession to be pretty, often blinds us to the value of being pretty under the surface. How would our efforts shift if we desired to be God's definition of pretty: P-raise Worthy Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. God gives us one requirement in order to be praise worthy, and that is to fear him. Fearing God doesn't mean to cripple in fear when you think about him. Fearing God comes as a result of believing the bible to be 100% true, and acting according to that truth. How would your day to day life change if you lived believing all of his promises and declarations to be true. How would that affect what you do with your time, energy, and money? R-espectable 1 Timothy 3:11 In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. Be worthy of respect. Act in a way that if people saw what you did behind closed doors, they would still respect and look up to you. Anyone can appear respectful in an ideal situation, but what about when insecurities, doubts, and selfishness kick in? Don't talk behind other's backs; instead be a trustworthy friend to all that confide in you! Don't just be "good enough," be a role model worthy of respect knowing that our actions as Christians represent Jesus Christ. E-legant 1 Peter 3:4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. This verse does not mean YOU have to be gentle and quiet, it means your SPIRIT should be. A quiet spirit is one that is sensitive when listening to God, and can therefore better discern God's will. Focusing first on the role of your spirit, will surely help keep your your priorities straight. An elegant beauty that starts from within, is the type of beaty and adorning God values. This type of beauty will grow as your relationship with God grows, verses external beauty that only fades with time. T-eachable Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. Having a desire to learn and grown is undeniably crucial to the Christian Faith. As a pretty woman of God we must always be learning from God's word to stay encouraged, as well as encouarge others around us. The only way to teach others, is to be taught first yourself. If your at a place in your faith where your not sure if there is more to learn, then your wrong. No matter where you're at, you've never experienced more then 1% of what God has in store for you, so keep pushing onwards! T-hankful 1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Contrary to popular belief, being thankful is not dependent on how much much or how little you have! You can have the world at your fingertips and it may never be enough, or you can just barely have food to eat, and praise God for what he provides daily! God's will is for us to have thankful hearts in all circumstances, this means when times are really good as well as really bad. As Christians this is possible, because with God we can have peace and joy even when it doesn't make sense (Philippians 4:7). Y-ourself Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Stay true to how you were designed. It's not pretty to be someone you weren't made to be. Keep both eyes on the qualities that make you unique, and don't compromise them for anyone. Especially through middle school and high school there may be the temptation to fit in, but in the long run people will respect you more for sticking to who you are rather than becoming someone else. It is impossible to follow God when our first priority is to fit in, we must be ok with standing out.
